The Tokyo 2020 licensing period has begun.

April 3, 2019 - April 4, 2020 is the officially licensed period for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

In Tokyo 2020, 212 male and female fencers will compete in all three types of fencing. 8 of these locations are guaranteed to be owned by the hosts.

Team: 8 teams will compete in the team event in each discipline. As of April 4, 2020 1-4 teams from the FIE ranking and the best team in 4 zones (Europe, America, Asia-Oceania, Africa). There is one condition here - to be the best team on the continent, to take 5-16 places in the FIE rating, if a representative of any zone is below 16th place, any team from any continent will take his place in the rating after a team that has already qualified.

Individual: 34 places will be played in each discipline. 24 teams will receive 3–3 representatives from 8 teams in the team competition, followed by 6th in the FIE rankings (not included in the team competition quota) 2–2 in Europe and Asia Pacific, 1–1 in Africa and the USA ... In zonal tournaments, the winner of the remaining 4 places will be determined. All four zones (Europe, America, Asia-Oceania, Africa) will host Olympic qualifiers on April 15-16, 2019, and only champions of the tournament will be licensed.

The Summer Olympics fencing competition will take place from July 25 to August 2, 2020 at the Makuhara Messi Exhibition Center in Tokyo.
