Merab Bazadze - the President of the Georgian Fencing Federation. «First of all, I congratulate the fans of Georgian sports and especially fencing. In January, the best fencers in the world will visit Georgia; in total, more than five hundred athletes will arrive in Tbilisi. It was our great desire to host one of the largest saber fencing competitions in our country, and the recent successes of the Georgian saber fencers have not gone unnoticed. It is this, and at the same time, the best organization of the previous competitions that has become the reason that the FIE has expressed great trust in us. This is, on the one hand, the honor and gratitude of the International Federation, and at the same time, a special challenge. It is not easy to hold competitions of this level,without the help and support of our government , it would be impossible to organize one of the most prestigious competitions, which is followed in many countries of all continents of the world. I am sure that the World Championship in Tbilisi will be the best both in sports and organizational terms. I hope that the competitions will become traditional and annual, they will further contribute to the popularization of fencing in Georgia. Which, in turn, is a prerequisite for great success in the future! "
